Basecamp · Week 1 — Welcome to the Studio
Objectives
Wildlings arrive and are welcomed as full people; the central question is 'Who is here, and is this a safe place to be myself?' Coaches establish the greeting ritual and begin learning every child's name and story.
Materials
name tags, talking stick or stone, chart paper, markers, simple snack
Activities
Day 1 opens with a full-group welcome circle where each Wildling introduces themselves with a simple ritual object or word. Coaches lead a Studio tour, showing tools, nature spaces, and quiet corners. The group co-creates simple community agreements together. Low-stakes games and a shared snack build initial trust. The week closes with a reflection circle naming one thing each Wildling noticed.
Coach notes
The greeting is the whole lesson this week — warmth and no agenda. A bracing child cannot be curious.
