Wild · Week 2 — Field Journaling

NatureDraftWhole groupWeek 2

Objectives

Wildlings deepen their observation skills through sketching, labeling, and asking questions in their Field Journal. The question is 'How do I capture what I see so I can look again later?'

Materials

Field Journal, colored pencils, magnifying glasses

Activities

A guided nature walk gives Wildlings subjects to sketch and describe in detail. Coaches teach simple naturalist sketching techniques — shape before detail. Wildlings practice writing wonder-questions alongside their observations. A small-group share lets Wildlings compare journal entries and techniques. Journals are left open-ended for daily additions going forward.

Coach notes

Encourage genuine questions in the journal, even unanswerable ones — wonder is the goal, not mastery.
