Wild · Week 3 — Living Systems
ScienceDraftWhole groupWeek 3
Objectives
Wildlings explore how living things connect and depend on each other in a local ecosystem. The question is 'How does this living thing depend on others around it?'
Materials
Field Journal, habitat study site, food web materials
Activities
A local habitat study (pond, forest edge, garden) lets Wildlings observe interactions firsthand. A simple food web activity visualizes dependencies among organisms observed. Wildlings track one organism over several days in their Field Journal. A short discussion explores what might happen if one part of the system disappeared. Observations are compiled toward a final journal theme.
Coach notes
Keep the ecology light and observation-based rather than lecture-heavy; let their own data drive the discussion.
